She sighed once more as the tears began to fall again. It had been months since it had happened yet still she felt that raw pain. The shocking sight still flashed through her mind whenever she closed her eyes.
Her heart had been shattered into pieces just like the wrecked car strewn over the road, flung across the fence and tumbled into the ditch. She remembered hearing the screeching brakes, the squeal of the tyres then the crunching of metal on the tarmac as the car rolled over and over before it finally settled in the field.
At the heart of her she still believed she hadn’t intended to wreak such havoc. She had just been wanting to leave him peacefully. She was trying to hitch a ride but suddenly his speeding car appeared from out of nowhere. Just in time she had leapt back off the road then realized with horror that she left her suitcase in the middle of the road.
